Baylor Scoliosis Center

Depressing. Painful. Exhausting. These are just some of the words people with scoliosis use to describe what they experience every day. Scoliosis can lead to progressive deformity in the spine, as well as incapacitating pain. And too often people are told there is nowhere else to turn.

But there is.

The Baylor Scoliosis Center specializes in advanced surgical options to straighten spines curved because of scoliosis - a common disorder of the spine. Since January 2005, the Baylor Scoliosis Center has focused on the care of adolescent and adult scoliosis patients. We are a national referral center located on the campus of the Baylor Regional Medical Center at Plano.

There are relatively few scoliosis specialists in the United States, but the Baylor Scoliosis Center features a fellowship-trained scoliosis surgeons on the medical staff at Baylor who specializes in scoliosis care and offers advanced treatment options. The surgeon on our medical staff works with primary care physicians across the country to educate them on rapidly advancing technology in scoliosis treatment and make them more aware that scoliosis can be treated in adults.

The staff is the core strength of the Baylor Scoliosis Center. We have a multi-specialty team including a scoliosis surgeon, cardiac anesthesiologists, physiatrists and physician assistants on the medical staff at Baylor who specialize in the care of patients with complicated spinal deformities. We also have a dedicated group of patient care coordinators, nurses, a spinal cord monitoring team and implant specialists who work with us and focus on providing quality care.

Last year, the Center performed more than 400 surgeries on adolescents and adults. We also offer scoliosis screening, bracing and conservative care for patients from all over the United States and abroad.
